A workshop for Mental Health professionals


Medico-legal report writing for Asylum Seekers and Refugees:

Clinical, legal and ethical issues.


When: 22 February 2018 5 pm - 830 pm

Where: Museum Room, Level Two, Mercure Hotel, Sydney

Cost: RANZCP Fellows $120* (includes GST) Trainees and Allied Health Colleagues (including psychologists) $75 (includes GST)

*RANZCP CPD recognition has been applied for and the cost included in the workshop fee


Registration includes a light meal. Please indicate any special dietary needs when you register.


Overview: The workshop provides an introduction to psychological and psychiatric assessment and report writing for asylum seekers and refugees. Clinicians face complex issues including the difficulties of obtaining medical records, the complexity of the stories, the politicised nature of assessments and their outcomes, and the requirements of the legal arguments and associated letters of Instruction.  De-identified case material will be used to illustrate the issues. The aim is for an interactive session with plenty of time for discussion. We hope you can join us.
