Dear LARIS Masters students

A colleague, Dr Hilary Yerbury, has asked that I distribute this EOI for two volunteer roles as journal production assistants (see brief outline below). In previous years, these roles have been filled by students from other library/archives/records courses in Australia. There is no requirement to be in NSW.

As a former journal editor, I know how much you can learn from this kind of work but it is also quite time-consuming. Hilary has provided more detail in the attached - please get in touch with her if you are interested.

Best wishes
Gaby

Cosmopolitan Civil Societies<https://epress.lib.uts.edu.au/journals/index.php/mcs/> is an open access, peer reviewed journal published through the University of Technology Sydney ePress. It is widely indexed, including by Scopus and Clarivate. The journal manager is calling for expressions for volunteer roles as journal production assistant.

  * The responsibility for the first role will be checking the references used in papers to be published to ensure their accuracy, completeness and conformity to style, and to provide the link to digital content where appropriate.
  * The second role would involve copy-editing submitted papers to ensure clarity of meaning and grammatical correctness; as many authors have English as a second or third language, this can be a challenging process.
These roles would be available for 6 months in the first instance for students enrolled in the Master's degree program, to start early in mid-2025.
