Hello CURTIS members and supporters,
Welcome to Semester Two! Keep reading to learn about our upcoming plans and two important surveys.
If you're a CURTIS member, we'd love to see you at one of our future events.
For Curtin staff, we'd greatly appreciate if you could share this information with your students and networks.
CURTIS Study Groups will be back for Semester Two! Please complete our survey<https://wordpress.us20.list-manage.com/track/click?u=bdf7a0190ca4135c66770069f&id=f9d2397e25&e=cdbb401e05> so you can have your say in how these Study Groups will operate.
Our Study Groups and other events will help you to build friendships and a community while studying online. Our events are held simultaneously online (using Discord) and in-person at the Curtin Perth (Bentley) campus, so everyone can participate. They’re a great opportunity to discuss your studies in a safe, supportive environment.
In addition, CURTIS are currently working with the Australian Library and Information Association New Generation Advisory Committee (ALIA NGAC) to collect anonymous responses to the changes announced in December 2019 regarding the Information Studies course at Curtin University. These include the phasing out of the undergraduate Information Studies course (titled Librarianship and Corporate Information Management) and all Information Studies units in both the undergraduate and postgraduate courses being taught online only from 2020.
Since then, we’ve experienced COVID-19 (which prompted discussions of online learning and the role of GLAMR institutions) and the government announcement that from 2021, the cost of studying certain courses will more than double.
CURTIS are collecting anonymous responses to the changes from current students, graduates and anyone working in the Galleries, Libraries, Archives, Museums and Records (GLAMR) industry in Australia. Responses may be used:
* in a report created by ALIA NGAC
* by CURTIS to provide feedback to university leaders
* as part of a potential article by Grok Magazine, the Curtin Student Guild publication for non-fiction
The final deadline for responses is 31 August 2020. We would greatly appreciate it if you could complete the survey and share it with your networks. You can complete the survey here<https://wordpress.us20.list-manage.com/track/click?u=bdf7a0190ca4135c66770069f&id=95ea87df4e&e=cdbb401e05>.
