Subject: 2018 Professional Library Cadet - University of Melbourne Library (2 positions available, fixed term for 2 years - part time 4 days per week)
Dear ALL,
I hope that you are all able to help us again this year!
We are now embarking on our 10th round of the Professional Library Cadet program in 2018 at the University of Melbourne Library (2 positions on offer, fixed term available part time for 2 years at 4 days per week). Closing date for applications is 22 March 2018.
In past years you have kindly assisted us in promoting this cadet program to your LIS student cohort by emailing them of this opportunity and we thank you! I have also used the current ALIA accredited course contact list on their website to find some new and up to date contacts. We would be most grateful to call on your assistance again both current or new!
Please let me know if things have changed so that I can update my current contact list or alternatively please feel free to pass this email on to more appropriate contacts within your library schools or anyone that you think might be interested.
I have created the below details to send to your students to help speed up this process with all the relevant recruitment details given the cadet program applications opened today and close 22 March 2018.
Are you able to please send this out on our behalf to your LIS student cohorts?
Many thanks to you all for your continued support and if you have any questions please contact me on 03 8344 5551 or by email.
Regards,
Sandra Woods

Dear 2018 Students,
Are you studying postgraduate qualifications in librarianship this year?
If so, you may be interested in the 'Professional Library Cadet' positions with The University of Melbourne Library (2 positions available).
The cadetships offers 2 fixed term positions available for 2 years (part time at 4 days per week). Closing date for applications is: 22 March 2018.
Cadets selected will have a recent relevant undergraduate degrees in a discipline other than library and information studies. In 2018, we are seeking to offer cadetships to candidates with a degree relevant to arts (humanities and social sciences) and business and economics. However, applicants with degrees in other disciplines may also apply. Cadets must also be enrolled to commence or continue enrolment in a recognised postgraduate library and information studies in 2018 and 2019.
During this time, cadets particularly draw upon their knowledge and skills from their undergraduate qualification to enhance the quality of library services as well as developing breadth of experience through placements in other parts of the library, project work and working in different teams whilst undertaking studies in librarianship. Opportunities are provided to develop broader capabilities and leadership experience, according to the cadet's interest and the Library's strategic priorities.
This is a fabulous opportunity to be part of a dynamic world class organisation whilst gaining practical professional library experience, a qualification and be paid whilst doing all of this!
We now look forward to hearing soon from 2018 cadetship applicants.
