Data flows, documents inform and records crystallise business processes at a point in time. Ideally, each of these should be managed to obtain the best possible business value while recognising any business risks. However, in the increasingly complex world of technology the boundaries are blurring between which system manages what, to what end, and who is responsible for ensuring value is gained.

As information professionals have our roles and understanding of what is required of us as managers kept pace with the technology? In this presentation we will explore the challenges facing the various information professionals in a world that is diverging from our previous paper-based view of the world. Based on his experiences over a number of years in the world of information technology, information management and records management, our speaker will set the scene for a lively debate about managing the various forms of information in a world of business systems. So come along and join the conversation!

Marcus is passionate about creating value for people and organisations through developing products that are enjoyable and easy to use and which make for better and more practical business processes. In pursuit of his passion Marcus co-founded  the Bright Sparks Lab and the Perth Startup School, resource aimed at sharing skills and knowledge across the local startup community.
While much of Marcus' current endeavours are focussed on startups and innovation in software development he has worked as an IT Director and information management consultant. He has also developed software solutions for the Finance, Distribution and Resources industries, primarily dealing with Document and Records management, but also line of business solutions.
At present Marcus is completing an MBA as a foundation for a holistic approach to building products which are driven by and satisfy the user experience through sound technological constructs and practical business processes.  He was awarded the Outstanding MBA Student 2013 by the Graduate Management Association of Australia.
