The position of librarian at New Norcia Library will become vacant in January.

The Benedictine Community seeks a librarian with vigour and vision whose professional training and technological skills can develop the potential of a library of significant heritage.


The New Norcia Library provides resources for the spiritual and intellectual formation of the Benedictine monks, academic resources for the New Norcia Institute for Benedictine Studies and it has enormous untapped possibilities as a resource for research.

Since the monks established New Norcia in 1847, the library has been an integral part of the monastery. Their immense collection is mostly religious, but it has an eclectic general collection covering many aspects of Australiana, and there is also a large holding of early imprint books dating back to 1508.
