Hi,

Information studies staff and students may be interested in joining me for this National Year of Reading event hosted by the Cities of Fremantle, Melville and Rockingham. (flyer attached).

Date: Wednesday 23 May 2012
Time: 7pm to 9pm
Venue: AH Bracks Library, Cnr Stock Road and Canning Hwy, Melville
Cost: $5 including wine and cheese.

Sherman Young is author of The book is dead, long live the book. I heard him speak a couple of years ago and found him very clear headed and logical, with a rather wide-ranging perspective that took in the history as well as the future of the book and reading.

James Lush (from ABC Perth), Grant Stone (cultural historian and incredibly interesting and knowledgable librarian) and myself will be part of a panel discussion after Sherman has spoken.
