Sorry if you're getting this twice.
The Perth unconference is a great opportunity for LIS students to meet and
interact with librarians in an informal setting. The broader the variety of
participants, the better and students can add a lot. I went to my first
unconference last year, had a ball and now I'm helping (un)organise it.
I would highly recommend coming along if you can.
Kind Regards,
Molly

Once again there is going to be a Library Unconference (Library Camp) in
Perth. It will be held at the Grove Library on October 25th 2010 from 9.30
to 4.30.
What is an unconference you may ask, and how does it differ from other
conferences?
One of the major differences is that an unconference begins WITHOUT a formal
agenda. We have the venue (The Grove Library
http://thegrovelibrary.net<http://www.google.com/url?sa=D&q=http://thegrovelibrary.net&usg=AFQjCNGGCXqJws_54eeirr4SXypA9t5Aqg>),
the time (9.30 to 4.30), and will provide lunch - everything else that
happens on the day will be decided upon the day by those that attend.
We will begin with a short introduction and then everyone will be decide
together what should be on the agenda.
What you can do NOW is:
1) Hold the day free - check with your supervisor and then put it in your
diary. This year it is going to be on a Monday to facilitate all those that
couldn't come on the weekend. This means that not everyone will be able to
come, as it is a working day and desks will need to be covered. Check with
your supervisor now – the first to ask are most likely to be the ones that
get permission.
2)Think about what it is you would like to talk about, or to hear about, on
the day.
3)If you are willing to help organise please go to the wiki page (
http://www.librarycampperth.com) and get in contact - remember if you are
helping to organise then you HAVE to be there - could add weight when you
request permission from your supervisor to spend the day at the Library Camp
J
Thanks to our generous sponsors this unconference will be FREE. There is no
cost to participants except in time, energy, communication, expertise and
engagement.
People know things you don't know about the library world - come and learn.
You know things other people don't know about the library world - come and
teach.
