Join our Library and Heritage Services team responsible for:

· Provision of a quality customer service, including assisting with reference and information requests 

· Processing, shelving and carrying out repairs to library items 

· Assisting in activities conducted by the library.

Requirements

· High level of customer services skills

· High level of written and verbal communication skills 

· Knowledge of library service procedures 

· Knowledge of common reference tools 

· Well-developed ability to use corporate computer systems. 

· Ability to work weekends and evenings 

· Current or commitment to obtain a Working with Children Clearance - prior to commencing employment.

 

A salary range of $42,226 - $46,335, $9/day transport allowance, up to 18% superannuation and generous work/life benefits are offered. These include:

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Position Title: Library Officer

Division: Community Services

Branch: Library and Heritage Services

Award: Level 2 LG Award

Section: Library Services

Responsible to: Coordinator, Library and Youth Services

 

ROLE:

To provide a high level of customer service and promote the library as a cultural and educational centre for the Subiaco community.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

 

1. Customer Service

Time: 60%

· Staff the front desk and perform all associated duties

· Provide reference and information service to answer and direct reader enquiries

· Advise and assist the public in operating library equipment

· Advise and assist the public over lost and damaged items, overdue items, membership details and

general service matters.

 

2. Clerical Support

Time: 30%

· Shelve items and maintain general order and tidiness of shelves and library

· Collect, sort and deliver incoming and outgoing mail; generate correspondence for signing

· Assist as required in activities conducted by the library

· Process new items and exchange items as required

· Carry out repairs to library items as required

· Maintain currency of newspapers and community information display

· Maintain accuracy of membership database

· To assist in other clerical job areas as required.

 

3.Other Duties/Obligations

Time: 10%

· Take personal responsibility and collaborate with others in applying knowledge and skills

· Contribute to the promotion of a safer working environment

· Demonstrate a willingness to be flexible and fit into a variety of roles to meet the requirements of the organisation.
