cleaning up today and our hard-working team have the worst of it done
now but the carpets will take some time to dry from the smashed fish
tanks (a handful of fish survived 5 hours on soggy carpet, how??), a few
hundred items have been spoiled and thrown away but by and large we do
feel very lucky. We're now waiting on Council structural inspectors to
clear our buildings for public use and we expect to be operating again
from roughly Wednesday, hopefully. Our buildings do have some visible
scars and cracks but nothing looking dangerous, and while we've been
cleaning up the mess it's not as bad as it could have been and certainly
not on the scale of those recent pictures from Canterbury University
Library which I'm sure you agree are pretty horrifying..

=20

Thank you for the offers of assistance and kind thoughts which have been
coming in, they've been much appreciated but Selwyn (at least) is doing
okay for now and our thoughts are with those more severely
incapacitated"

And from Canterbury University:

At present the Christchurch CBD is still cordoned off while structural
engineers assess the damage to buildings. The dozens of aftershocks have
not helped and some buildings previously assessed have suffered more
damage.

=20

Our thoughts are with you all.
