Through the Hackett Foundation the Office of Development offers exciting
opportunities to individuals and corporations to establish enduring
partnerships with The University of Western Australia. The Office of
Development and Alumni Relations coordinates alumni activities and
fundraising activities ranging from major capital campaigns, annual
appeals, a bequest program, memorial gift programs and appeals to
establish new facilities, research funds, scholarships and prizes.
An opportunity exists to join the Office of Development undertaking
prospect research. The Senior Research Officer will play a pivotal role
in supporting the University's prospect management and donor stewardship
processes, assuming primary responsibility for meeting the prospect
identification and research needs of the Office of Development team,
enabling them to meet their fundraising goals. Your research experience
will enable you to identify, research and analyse current and potential
donors to the University using a variety of resources to enhance the
Office of Development's friend and fund-raising activities.

ROLE STATEMENT
As the appointee you will, under broad direction from the Manager,
Development Services, lead a small team to identify and research
potential donors to The University and manage the prospect tracking
system
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Design, implement and manage a prospect clearance and tracking system
across the University
Lead, develop and supervise the work of a team of prospect research
staff
Provide reports to the Director of Development that will assist in
measuring key performance indicators of the success of the fundraising
program
Manage a team to identify and research potential donors to the
University using a variety of resource tools
Collate and prepare comprehensive profiles and ratings on identified
prospects, major donors, corporations, trusts and foundations
Provide analysis of research findings to assist in allocation of
prospects to fundraising projects/priorities
Prepare comprehensive briefing notes, reports and presentation in
support of friend raising and fund raising activities being undertaken,
planned or proposed
In collaboration with the Manager, Development Services, oversee the
maintenance and improvement of the Office of Development database of
alumni, donors, prospects and stakeholders by assimilating information
from a variety of sources and update the constituent records in a manner
that will enhance the effectiveness of data mining
Other duties as required

SPECIFIC WORK CAPABILITIES (SELECTION CRITERIA): (Minimum requirements
to perform the duties of the position, e.g. Certificate of Secondary
Education).
Tertiary qualifications preferably in an area such as information and
library management or commensurate research experience
Ability to lead and manage small teams and work collaboratively with
staff from other sections with competing interests
Experience in working in a complex environment, preferably in Higher
Education
Proven ability to undertake research activities, with attention to
detail and a systematic and methodical approach to work
Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, written and verbal communication
skills
Excellent organisational and time management skills and demonstrated
ability to set priorities and to meet deadlines.
Proficiency in a range of computing skills including internet search
skills, use of various databases, preferably Raiser's Edge, and the
microsoft suite of programs
