Dear CommPsychList and SCRA ANZPacific,

Please excuse cross-postings.

Hi all! I am sure that many of you have been following and supporting the
Black Lives Matter movement abroad and, more recently, within SCRA.

The Call to Action on Anti-Blackness within SCRA places the support of
black and non-black POC scholars and scholarship as a central organization
mission. Sadly, the intra-organizational review has highlighted the low
percentage of black and non-black POC in our membership.

SCRA, while not a perfect organization, is on a mission to "transform
policies, practices and culture towards anti-racism and anti-oppression in
pursuit of liberation." Over the past 6 months impressive literature and
resources for anti-racism and anti-oppression have been offered through the
SCRA-L listing. These types of resources can support black and non-black
POC who are studying and dealing with oppressive educational paradigms
however, they first have to be aware of SCRA and *have access facilitated.*

**ALL undergraduate students can have FREE membership to SCRA through the
Student Associate Membership. *

**ALL new graduates can have 12 months of free membership post graduation.*

**The Affiliation of membership with an international professional body
can, in itself, help students in their career advancement and path. *

One of the best ways to address entrenched racism within our own
organization is to *facilitate access to the organization for black and
non-black POC* and to support their advancement.

If you are in ANY position to offer this free membership resource to
students *please consider doing so. * This may open up international links,
support and other opportunities for students who would otherwise have no
access. Please circulate the offer widely and particularly to your students
who are black or non black POC or have a central focus on social justice
and liberation.

Secondly, as many of you would be aware SCRA and Community Psychologist
membership in the Australia, New Zealand and Pacific area has been dropping
for some time. SCRA membership for the region is very low. SCRA regularly
offers scholarships for conferences to students in our region and funding
for our own conferences. The low SCRA representation in our region is a
confounding issue.

If you are Community Psychology affiliated please consider personally
re-joining SCRA.

SCRA offers us professional solidarity with almost 2000 other committed
academic colleagues who are willing to be generous in giving access to
their resources and to work collaboratively towards social justice.

Members who wish to contribute to the Anti-Racist, Anti-Oppressive working
group and Advisory Board would be welcomed. Again, we want to facilitate
SCRA access to our black and non-black POC colleagues who are the real
experts in the field. We have much to learn and much to share.

Finally, I am sure you are aware from Heather Gridley's generous posts of
ongoing Community Psychology activities of the upcoming

International Conference of Community Psychology 2020

Please consider joining the Conference. Looking forward to renewing
connection, links and solidarity in the movements towards equity and sanity.

Thank you,

Katie
