Many of you will know about this already, but it could be a valid CPD webinar I reckon...

Subject: So many people want to help

Heather,

My name is Desiree, and I've never written an email like this before. Writing to a million GetUp members for the first time is scary. But I'm writing to you for the same reason I joined GetUp: this climate crisis is scarier.

I've never seen our sun this colour, or our sky turn to smoke and ash like this. I've never seen bushfires devastate our wildlife and communities on a scale like this.

And never in my lifetime, have I seen a Prime Minister bury his head in the sand in the face of a national crisis like this.

But I've also never felt so hopeful. Because while Scott Morrison is missing in action, hundreds of thousands of people in our communities are looking for a solution we can fight for together. And for the first time many of them are asking: 'What can I do to fix this?'

If that's you or someone you know, I'm asking you to join me at the Climate Action Webinar for Absolute Beginners on Monday evening 3 February. <http://www.getup.org.au/climate-action-webinar-beginners?t=OjPKEFg15&utm_content=28525&utm_campaign=So_many_people_want_to_help&utm_source=blast&utm_medium=email>

RSVP for Beginners' Climate Action Webinar here<http://www.getup.org.au/climate-action-webinar-beginners?t=OjPKEFg15&utm_content=28525&utm_campaign=So_many_people_want_to_help&utm_source=blast&utm_medium=email>

What: Climate Action Webinar for Absolute Beginners
When: Monday 3 February, 7:00pm - 8:30pm AEDT
Where: Online video call via Crowd Cast (details when you RSVP)
Who: Everyone! You don't need any prior knowledge in campaigning or Climate Action - all experience welcome.

On the video call (it's super easy to join, by the way!), we'll talk through the problem we're facing and our vision for change. We'll also set you up with some tools and ideas for actions you can take now, and upcoming events you can join.

  *   We'll share cut-through messages on the climate and bushfires based on up-to-date polling and research;

  *   We'll boil down our climate crisis: its causes and solutions in a story simple enough for you to share in an elevator ride;

  *   We'll share some straightforward actions you can take right now;

  * And we'll let you know about upcoming trainings and events you can join to make even more impact in the future.

I know first hand: doing something for the first time can be daunting. But it's also deeply rewarding. We will welcome you with big smiles, open arms and a clear plan for how you can take your first step to helping fight for our future.

If we're going to create the change that's needed to turn this crisis around, we'll need everyone on board! Please forward this invite and ask any friends, family, workmates, classmates or neighbours you know who might be interested to join you in coming along.

RSVP here to jump on board for the transformation our communities, wildlife and planet desperately need.<http://www.getup.org.au/climate-action-webinar-beginners?t=OjPKEFg15&utm_content=28525&utm_campaign=So_many_people_want_to_help&utm_source=blast&utm_medium=email>

I'll see you there,

Desiree, for the GetUp team
