Dear Colleagues

I too would like to add my congratulations to the organising committee. The recent Trans-Tasman conference was everything it promised to be. I particularly appreciated the inclusion of community voices into the programme - Lauren and the organising committee included community voices prior to the keynote addresses in the main auditorium and therefore positioned these contributors front and centre in our consciousness. I also welcomed the critical focus of many of the presentations; all too often it seems we sacrifice constructive critique of our practice for a 'play nice' calm and so I was especially grateful for the final plenary session exploring the future of CP (and more importantly in my mind, critical CP) in Australia - I would have liked this session to have been longer and to have invoked more discussion particularly in light of the National Registration Scheme and the implications this has for our discipline. Ultimately though I came away from the conference feeling renewed, refreshed, challenged, and conflicted - exactly the emotions a conference should generate I think - well done to all concerned and bring on the 12th Trans-Tasman in 2 years time in Aotearoa

Dawn

19 July 09

I attended the 3-day 11th Trans-Tasman Community Psychology Conference in Perth, WA last week and would like to congratulate the organising committee on a job well done and express my appreciation for their efforts and hard work.

I enjoyed the varied content of the conference and the multidisciplinary background and different locations of the speakers . I considered all presentations very relevant to community psychology and wanted to hear them all. From those I did manage to attend I felt reaffirmed about how essential the community psychology paradigm is to practitioners, researchers and policy and law makers alike.

I also liked the catering, the social programme, the convenient venue with affordable parking nearby and, last but not least, meeting other likeminded people.

Despite the lingering questions at the conference closure about the form the continuation of community psychology should and is taking, the conference themes of "Exploring Boundaries, Expanding Frontiers" that came through throughout the three days will stay with me.
