Subject: [WAIN] bookings now open for Wider local studies seminar 2 and 3 June 2026
Hello
Wider local studies is back for 2026. The draft program is here https://wiki.libraries.nsw.gov.au/doku.php?id=agenda_for_2_and_3_june_2026_wider_local_studies including a link for booking.
The Wider local studies online seminar is on 2 and 3 June. The seminar features sessions looking at contemporary collecting as well as oral history and cataloguing. There will be short (10 minute) talks from local studies staff across Australia as they share what is happening in their libraries (these will be added to the program in the next week)*. The seminar will be recorded and your participation in these is your agreement to be recorded. We are using one time zone in the program listing as it proved confusing for people having three time zones listed for each presenter.
There is an online discussion later in the day on 3 June (please see the program). This is for people who want to chat with local studies staff in other states and territories. We will be discussing the sessions from the previous two days as well as other topics of interest. Depending on numbers we may use breakout rooms to aid discussion. This session will not be recorded.
Wider local studies seminar 2 June session will run:
* 9.00am to 1.30pm AWST (Western Australia)
* 10.30am to 3.00pm ACST (South Australia and Northern Territory)
* 11.00am to 3.30pm AEST(ACT, NSW, Queensland, Tasmania and Victoria)
Wider local studies seminar 3 June session including discussion will run:
* 9.00am to 2.00pm AWST
* 10.30am to 3.30pm ACST
* 11.00am to 4.00pm AEST
*In these sessions presenters have 10 minutes including questions.
Regards
Ellen for the Wider local studies planning group
