EOI - 2024 University of Melbourne Records Management Casual Staff Register
The University of Melbourne engages casual staff from time to time to assist with records management project work.
The Records & Information<https://records.unimelb.edu.au/> team at the University is currently seeking people interested in being added to the 2024 Records Management Casual Staff Register.
About the work
Location: Melbourne, VIC (namely Parkville campus)
Timeframes: Projects generally range from one week to two months.
Types of project work:
* Conducting record surveys
* Sentencing records using retention and disposal authorities
* Packing and listing hardcopy records for transfer to secondary storage or the archives
* Preparing hardcopy and/or digital records for destruction
* Supporting digitisation activities (preparing hardcopy records for scanning, quality assurance checking, filing digitised records)
* Adding records and/or updating metadata in records management systems.
About you
Skills required:
* Good knowledge of records management principles, such as arrangement, naming, metadata requirements, business classification, retention and disposal
* Efficient in the use the Microsoft Office applications, specifically Excel, Word and Outlook
* Excellent attention to detail and high level of accuracy (especially for record listing and data entry work)
* Able to effectively work independently under minimum supervision by following directions, internal procedures and processes
* Able to access and move records with use of equipment such as ladders, trolleys and stands, as required (for hardcopy processing projects).
Desirable:
* Knowledge of relevant Victorian legislation and standards including retention and disposal authorities
* Experience in using a records management system (e.g., Content Manager)
* Experience documenting and processing archival records
* Experience in records appraisal and functional analysis.
