Subject: [WAIN] Nominations for the 2019 F A Sharr Award are now open!
Nominations for the 2019 F A Sharr Award<https://www.alia.org.au/about-alia/awards-and-grants/355/f-sharr-award> are now open!
The F A Sharr Award is named after Francis Aubie (Ali) Sharr, State Librarian in Western Australia from 1953 to 1976, in recognition of his contribution to libraries and librarianship in Western Australia and to the profession more broadly. The award is presented to a Western Australian librarian, teacher librarian, or library technician within their first three years following graduation, who exhibits the most potential to make a significant contribution to the library profession in WA.
In addition to self-nominations, the ALIAWest committee invites supervisors, mentors, colleagues, and peers to nominate an individual whom they believe would be a worthy recipient of the award.
Why are peer nominations important? We're glad you asked! It can be incredibly daunting to nominate yourself for a professional award, especially if you've recently graduated and are still finding your feet in the industry. By shining a light on someone who you feel has the potential to make a positive contribution, you're providing the support and encouragement they might need to put themselves forward.
Details on how to nominate an individual, and on the self-nomination process, can be found on the F A Sharr Award web page: https://www.alia.org.au/about-alia/awards-and-grants/355/f-sharr-award <https://www.alia.org.au/about-alia/awards-and-grants/355/f-sharr-award>
Take note of the important dates!
Wednesday 11 March Applications open
Monday 23 March Colleague nominations close
Friday 10 April Self-nominations close
April-May Selection process and interviews
Thursday 28 May Presentation of award
Kind regards,
ALIAWest
