Dear students
Please find below a link to the recording of the “Welcome to LARIS Studies Semester Two/Study Period”- online session that was held a few weeks ago:
https://au-lti.bbcollab.com/recording/293f907288b14ec9ad9912c8e16318d7
It took me a little while to remember to record the session so a few minutes are missing at the beginning – which is just me introducing myself. For those of you who do not know me, I am a fairly recent LARIS staff member. I teach Librarianship Concepts & Practice, Reference Services, Collection Management and ISFP this year. I have been in Australia for about 15 years, working or teaching in and about libraries for 9 years. I am about to complete my PhD (yay!), and am also the president of LARISA, the LARIS Alumni group.
Also, we are keen to know what you thought about the session if you attended, any feedback you might have, and any ideas you have about future sessions. Is there anything specific you’d like to talk about, or you‘d like us to discuss, or are there other ways you’d like us to connect with you in a more informal way outside of units etc. I’d be very grateful if I heard back from a few of you about this :-)
Kind Regards
Petra

Dear all
The Libraries, Archives, Records and Information Science (LARIS) team invites all students to an online ‘Welcome to LARIS Studies Semester Two/Study Period 3’ event to be held using Blackboard Collaborate on Monday the 2nd of September, at 4pm AWST.
How can you access this event? Use this link: https://au.bbcollab.com/guest/7a9488f3d1c24f088faa75ea6cd510e2 You may be asked to sign into Blackboard. You can access the session up to 30 minutes beforehand.
What are we going to do? You will hear introductions from LARIS staff members, and then we’ll just have a chat about anything you’d like to talk about. You can raise questions, and let us know what you think about having online sessions like these. We are also thinking of organising an online space for LARIS students and staff and welcome your ideas in that regard.
What should I expect? This is an event located where we are at – our desks, at home, in the office or travelling. We will all set ourselves up to participate in the way that suits us. Collaborate allows for audio, video and text message interaction. Throughout the entire session you can chat with us and/or each other via text. We do ask that if you want to use audio please keep it muted until you are ready to talk. Using the ‘raise hand’ feature if you want to talk using audio is very useful. The session will be recorded, and made available afterwards.
What if I cannot get into Collaborate? Sometimes technology just does not work. It may be your network, your browser or something else. Unfortunately we will not be able to help you during the event. Please check the guides below and test your settings and connection using the 30 minute window available before the session starts.
Browser support: https://help.blackboard.com/Collaborate/Ultra/Moderator/Get_Started/Browser_Support
Audio and video: https://help.blackboard.com/Collaborate/Ultra/Moderator/Moderate_Sessions/Audio_and_VideoIf your connection is not working, the event is accessible via phone (audio) only. Dial In: 61285201004 PIN: 607 413 9375
Looking forward to seeing you then!
Petra
