“Archives Visualisation”: LARIS Research Seminar
A technical presentation at the Curtin HIVE.
3:00pm – 5:00pm Wednesday 25th September 2019
Speaker: Dr Andrew Woods, Manager, Curtin HIVE
Abstract: There is huge value and opportunity to be gained from visualising photographic archives and exploring new ways of showcasing collections to the public. HIVE manager Dr Andrew Woods will provide an overview of a wide range of projects that have been supported by the HIVE in the area of Libraries and Archives, including some projects from LARIS staff. Some of the projects that will be discussed will include Historical Panoramas, Geolocation Visualisation, Historical Image Classification, Feature Matching the SLWA collection, the Diaries of Frances Bussell, Visualising Research Activity, and Heritage Panoramic Tour. You will also hear about the HIVE summer internship program, and there will be time to view and use some of the discussed projects on the HIVE screens.
The LARIS Research Seminar Series is a staff-driven event designed to communicate and discuss research and explore new opportunities. We welcome staff, students, alumni, and professionals who are interested in research to participate in the event.
