Hi everyone
Following on from Kathryn's email, I would like to draw your attention to the Information Studies student club we have at Curtin, CURTIS.
A student club is a great way to start getting involved and building one's network and have a bit of fun. Needless to say, it also looks good on your CV :-) I am a member (with my PhD student hat on), and can assure you that we are a very friendly and relaxed group.
We have our AGM tonight at Curtin campus, starting at 5pm, followed by a dinner. This is a great occasion to start that networking you have been thinking of RIGHT NOW, because great things happen if you put your hand up, show up, care and participate.
If you are keen, let me or Havva Teede (the current president, curtisperth at gmail.com<mailto:curtisperth at gmail.com>) know. I am also happy to give people a lift (am in Booragoon).

Hi everyone,
The ALIAWest committee was announced on the WAIN mailing list last night (please see below).
It is really encouraging to see the very high proportion of current Curtin students, or recent graduates, who are involved. Member organisations are only strong and useful when professionals engage with them, so this will benefit the rest of the profession in Western Australia.
I would encourage all students to follow the example of these students and recent students in contributing positively to our profession.
