Hi all,

Thanks to Linux Australia, applications are invited from across Australia for the first VALA Diversity Scholarship. The Scholarship will fund one individual's attendance at VALA Tech Camp 2017<https://portal.vala.org.au/page-18093>, in Melbourne, between 12-14 July.

VALA recognises that regional, rural and indigenous members of the Library community face additional barriers to participation in both library and technical events. The Diversity Scholarship is offered to individuals who in normal circumstances would not generally attend a VALA event or would struggle to attend due to financial or other hardship.

There is one scholarship for the Tech Camp in July, and three for the VALA 2018 conference (applications open in September).

Diversity Scholarship for Tech Camp

The VALA Diversity Scholarship for Tech Camp is open to:

*         Any Australian person of Indigenous heritage; and/or

*         Any Australian person who resides in a regional, rural or remote location, including Darwin.

Scholarship Offer:

*         Up to $2,000 for flights and accommodation

*         Free Camp ticket

*         Complimentary VALA Personal Membership to 31 March 2018

*         VALA buddy at Tech Camp
