Call for Papers - FINAL REMINDER

RIMPA are currently seeking 40 minute presentations and 80 minute workshops for inForum 2017 in line with the chosen streams.

Release of Cabinet Documents

Happy New Year! As in previous years, the release of cabinet documents makes the news on the first day of the year.

Don’t you feel proud to be in the Records & Information Management profession, and to appreciate how important it is to manage documents. In particular, managing the whole lifecycle from creation to preservation or destruction and how it is important for our society and future generations.

It’s a glimpse into the past to see if we have learnt from history, or are we just simply repeating it?

It was interesting to note that the cabinet documents on display in the news report were all hardcopy. There was the archivist flipping through the pages for the camera.

Whether in hardcopy or in electronic format, Records & Information Management still has a vitally important role to play. One way of considering this is to ask yourself what will happen in 30 years time. We will have failed if the headline reads “there was nothing to be found in the archives”.

RIM Professionals Australasia encourages mentoring and currently has an ongoing mentoring program.

This program has been established to match industry professionals with students, recent graduates, or people working in the industry to provide career guidance and support and to facilitate a transition into the records and information management industry.
