Subject: [rimp_list] Fabulous 2 year Archives project available - Broken Hill
Posted on behalf of Broken Hill City Council.
ARCHIVES SPECIALIST
Externally Funded Position - Fixed Term Contract Up to 2 years
Salary negotiable
Be inspired by the bright future of the City of Broken Hill, and join Council to deliver an ongoing legacy for the Broken Hill community.
The Broken Hill and Outback Archives has a vital role to play as part of the Living Museum + Perfect Light project – a strategic intervention developed in consultation with the community and adopted by Broken Hill City Council. The Living Museum + Perfect Light project captures the essence of Broken Hill (Australia’s First National Listed Heritage City) and transforms it to compete on a world stage. The overall strategy calls for protection and re-purpose through dynamic urban design, activation, bold digital and site specific interpretation, technology, art, events and enterprise.
This role is made possible through a BHP Billiton Foundation Donation. It aims to work alongside other funded projects and operational resources of Council to deliver an ongoing legacy - impacting on local wellbeing and job creation while establishing a foundation for a re-purposed future as this community approaches end-of-mine life.
The role will oversee the archives project deliverables and facilitate their expansion as a nexus for heritage in Broken Hill through:
* Working with collections of untapped potential to manage immediate issues and facilitate long-term opportunities.
* Planning and overseeing the safe relocation of Council-owned archives from their current home to secure storage in the basement of the Council Administration Building.
* Setting up planning and policy frameworks for the sustainable continuation of the Broken Hill and Outback Archives
* Initiating program of curation, exhibition management and archival digitisation, inclusive of the development of a compelling online museum, collections management database and web component.
At Broken Hill we are For Real. We believe in real experiences, real places, real friendships and real values. Our people are our strength - the City of Broken Hill is home to a very inclusive community, and at Broken Hill City Council we welcome you to join our team moving forward and enjoy the career success you hope for.
Benefits working for Council include:
* 5 weeks annual leave
* 15 days annual sick leave
* Corporate Health and Wellbeing programs
* Employee growth and development opportunities
* Salary packaging options
