Dear Hum-DIS readers,
The position described below might interest Perth based students - an excellent opportunity to gain experience working alongside a researcher and potentially receiving a co-authorship credit.
Regards
Paul
Ranila Bhoyroo, PhD Candidate at the University of Notre Dame is looking for a student studying Information Studies who could assist with her research. I think this would be a good opportunity for a student to hone his/her research skills and gain credit for authorship for the paper. Following is some information on the project from Ranila
1. Type of review: I am doing a scoping review. It is the first step before doing a systematic review. I will be following Joanna Briggs
format for scoping review. It is not as stringent as that for a systematic review.
2. Title: My chosen title is brain areas associated with Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD): a scoping review.
3. Timeline: August to end of November. The search process was supposed to take place in mid-August, I am however falling behind the
timeline. Therefore the quicker the search process can take place, the better it is. I do understand it is a laborious process and would
probably take some time. The amount of time the librarian will devote per week is not set. Probably we can agree upon a time frame of
when and what will be completed.
4. Search terms and databases: I have already put together a list of search terms and have identified my databases. The librarian is most
welcome to adjust, add, delete any search terms as well as search other relevant databases not included in the list I have provided. Happy
to email my list to the librarian before any meeting so that he/she can have a rough idea.
5. Managing citations: I use EndNote and would definitely prefer sharing the citations using EndNote itself. I mentioned emailing the
citations before as I was seeking help from different librarians and was not sure what they use and thought that emailing the citations
would be quicker.
6. Authorship/remuneration: At the moment my supervisors and I are offering only authorship credit for the paper. If the librarian would
like to take this as a contract
work then we will consider this option however nothing guaranteed at the moment for any contract work as my project involves an
FMRI study which is quite costly and we are saving the budget for that study.
7. Meeting: As I mentioned earlier, I am falling behind my timeline, I therefore I look forward to meet the person at soon as possible and
start the searching process soon.
Ranila would be happy to answer any other questions. The student can either contact me or directly get in touch with Ranila.
