An AWESOME event to volunteer at. Please see below this email for details.

I have this morning been in touch with Mary and she is very keen to organise the roster for Books-To-Go prior to going on leave at the end of this week. So if you are interested please get in contact with her ASAP.

Mary said there is there is no minimum commitment to hours.  Mary also said that regarding the WWCC, the forms are available from the post office and if you wish to apply as a volunteer for the discounted rate of $11 she will need to sign your form. As long as your application has been submitted and you can show the receipt you will be eligible to volunteer and the State Library will reimburse the $11 if the application is successful.

Shifts 10.00am-1.00pm, 1.00-4.00pm

Each year the State Library of Western Australia partners with the fabulous AWESOME Art Festival for Bright Young Things<http://www.awesomearts.com/>. As well as being a venue for several of the events, our Better Beginnings<http://www.better-beginnings.com.au/> team runs their perennial and very popular Books-to-Go<http://www.awesomearts.com/events/better-beginnings-books-to-go/> event.

Books-To-Go is a fun, usually busy and sometimes a little bit crazy activity for children aged three and up, and their families, to make their own books. The aim of this activity is to build pre-literacy skills in children to prepare them for school.

Volunteers help enormously with this event by assisting to make Books-To-Go, restocking supplies, tidying and other duties as required.

The State Library strives to be a child-safe organisation and screens volunteers who will be working with children. If you are over 18, it is essential that you have a Working With Children Card to be eligible for this event. The fee for a WWCC is $11 if you apply as a volunteer.
