Media Collections Officer

About the Role
We are looking for a Media Collections Officer to contribute towards a broad range of Collection Management services and projects.  Working in a friendly and collaborative team and reporting to the Supervisor Collections Services, you will:

  *   Undertake collection appraisal and apply selection and de-selection decisions according to Content Services Collection Management Policies.
  *   Support the delivery of collection access services including resolving research requests and enquiries.
  *   Perform collection management duties including accessioning, coordinating retrievals and returns to storage, and media capture and preservation.
  *   Undertake the consignment of media to National Archives Australia (NAA) to meet disposal obligations.
  *   Ensure accurate records are maintained to specified standards in relevant Collection Management systems.
About You
We are looking for someone who can work effectively towards the management of, and access to, the ABC’s Corporate Archive and Production Library Collections.
You will have:

  *   Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or equivalent experience in the delivery of Collection Management services.
  *   Sound knowledge of archival principles and ability to apply that knowledge over a variety of audio-visual broadcast media formats and records.
  *   Excellent communication, organisational and time management skills.
  *   Proven experience in the use of Collection Management database systems, with the ability to accurately capture metadata.
  *   Excellent customer service; Ability to work effectively, both independently and within a team, to achieve project deadlines.
