Directorate and Unit Overview

The Arts, Culture and Heritage Unit sits within the Economic Development and Activation Directorate, along with these business units:

Marketing and Communications
Business Support and Sponsorship
The Arts, Culture and Heritage Unit develops and implements the strategic vision for arts, culture, and heritage at the City of Perth. The Unit drives leadership in cultural innovation, collaboration, and creativity, within a capital city context.  Core objectives are based on three key business unit streams: Cultural Collections and Infrastructure;

Strategic Planning; and Activation and Development. The unit collaborates across the Directorate to drive an economic development and activation agenda including the following key functions:

- integrated cultural infrastructure planning and management;
- cultural asset management, including collections and built form;
- cultural programming, activation and commissioning;
- supporting a local cultural economy;
- leveraging relevant sponsorships, partnerships and grants; and audience development and engagement.
The Unit supports and creates opportunity for our community to enjoy the finest arts, cultural and heritage activities and initiatives. Projects include cultural engagement and research, events and exhibitions, public art, heritage assessment and advice, and cultural heritage and artwork collection.

Position Objectives

The Casual Officer reports directly to the Cultural Heritage Team Leader and works within the History Centre to provide customer service and preservation and maintenance support of the Cultural Heritage Collection. Core objectives of the position are to:

Assist in the provision of quality historical research information to external and internal customers and stakeholders.
Assist in making the City of Perth History Cultural Heritage Collections accessible to internal and external customers and stakeholders.
Provide exemplary service at the City of Perth History Centre, accessing information in a professional and timely manner.
Respect and take pride in the diverse range of cultural perspectives in Perth, including the Aboriginal community.
Efficiently and sustainably use and manage resources.
