Dear 2016 Students,
Are you studying postgraduate qualifications in librarianship this year?
If so, you may be interested in the 'Professional Library Cadet' positions with The University of Melbourne Library (2 positions available).
The cadetships offers a full time position (fixed term at 0.8 FTE) for up to 2 years. Closing date for applications is: 27 April 2016.
Cadets selected into the cadetship program must be enrolled to commence or continue enrolment in a recognised postgraduate library and information course in 2016 and want to pursue a career in librarianship. Preference will be given to applications with an undergraduate degree in Science, Engineering, Business, Economics, Law or Education although applicants with other degrees in other disciplines may also apply. Cadets must be undertaking postgraduate library and information studies in 2016 and 2017.
During this time, cadets particularly draw upon their knowledge and skills from their undergraduate qualification to enhance the quality of library services as well as developing breadth of experience through placements in other parts of the library, project work and working in different teams whilst undertaking part time study in librarianship. Opportunities are provided to develop broader capabilities and leadership experience, according to the cadet's interest and the Library's strategic priorities.
This is a fabulous opportunity to be part of a dynamic world class organisation whilst gaining practical professional library experience, a qualification and be paid whilst doing all this!
We now look forward to hearing soon from 2016 cadetship applicants.
