Subject: [WAIN] Celebrate Excellence in Library and Information Week

To celebrate Library & Information Week 2013, ALIAWest and the State Library of Western Australia invite you to the presentation of the Library Board of Western Australia Award for Excellence and the ALIA Fellowship to Carol Newton-Smith.  ALIAWest will also recognise Kerry Smith's contribution to the LIS Industry.

In addition, the State Library of Western Australia Foundation will announce this year's winner of the Kay Poustie Scholarship which takes the form of an International Study Grant.

When:   Thursday 23 May 2013
Time:    5:30pm for 6:00pm start
Where:  Great Southern Room (4th floor), State Library of Western Australia

Network with colleagues, enjoying music and refreshments before and after the presentations.

Information about the Awards:

*         The Library Board of Western Australia Award for Excellence recognises excellence and innovation in the library sector by any person, library or organisation in Western Australia.

*         The distinction of Fellow is awarded by ALIA to someone who has reached an exceptionally high standard of proficiency in library and information science and has made a distinguished contribution to the theory or practice of library and information science.

*         The Kay Poustie Scholarship recognises Kay's immense contribution to the library profession throughout her career and her belief in an international perspective for the profession.  The International Study Grant and will enable a WA-based librarian to travel overseas to learn more about innovative library practices and to bring that knowledge back to Western Australia
