As the largest Higher Education system in the United Arab Emirates, the Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT) is at the forefront of the country's higher education system, providing programs to over 19,000 UAE National students at 17 Colleges across the UAE. Our team of 2000 employees represents over 60 different nationalities, making the HCT a true representation of the UAE's diverse ethnic mix.
The Librarian supports teaching and learning objectives through the effective delivery of Library and Learning Centre services to students and faculty. The incumbent ensures that all library users are properly orientated with library services, resources and technologies. To this end, the Librarian plans and delivers information skills instruction, provides reference services, and produces instructional materials. The Librarian works closely with faculty and Academic Central Services to develop library collections which are aligned with curricular and research needs. In the smaller colleges, the Librarian is responsible for oversight of daily Library operations.
Requirements:
* A Master's Degree or Post-Graduate equivalent in Library and Information Science, or equivalent, that is recognized by a professional Library Association (e.g. - ALA)
* A Bachelor's Degree in Library and Information Science, or equivalent, that is recognized by a professional Library Association, with extensive experience in Library, will also be considered
* A minimum 3 years of library related experience
* Knowledge of accessing and utilizing information sources in all formats
* High degree of computer literacy and demonstrated competency using integrated library systems
* Ability to work effectively as a team member in a multi-cultural environment
* Demonstrated willingness to engage in professional development activities in order to develop and improve new and current skills, and to adapt to the evolving needs of the organization
* Experience facilitating Informed Learning (Library skills classes) to non-native English speakers is desirable
