Hi All

I am passing on information provided by the Commonwealth Parliamentary Librarian regarding a call for applications for a summer research scholarship based at the Australian Parliament Library to the value of $1800 for students who have completed a postgraduate qualification.

Please note this is a pilot and as such there will be no additional financial support for travel and accommodation.

Dear Colleagues

I am pleased to advise that the Parliamentary Library is launching a new Summer Research Scholarship on behalf of the Parliament of Australia in 2013. We are initially offering one Scholarship, but the aim is to offer 2‒3 Summer Scholarships in future years.

The Scholarship is based at the Parliamentary Library in Canberra, and is open to students with a postgraduate degree who are interested in undertaking research into an aspect of Australian policy, law, politics or parliamentary practice on a topic of direct relevance to the Commonwealth Parliament. Only students with Australian citizenship or Australian permanent resident status will be eligible. There is a one-off payment of $1 800 for the student on completion of the Scholarship, but please note that in this pilot year there is no financial support available for travel or accommodation.

In addition to the benefits of the Scholarship outlined in the attached flyer, the successful applicant will have the opportunity to produce a policy research paper suitable for publication.
