Dear students past and present

Those of you in WA and members of the WA e-list WAIN will now about this
event already. We are very pleased to have been among the first
teaching, and now research, entities at WAIT/Curtin almost since its
inception. The School itself started under John Dean, now in Ireland
and with whom we still keep in touch, circa 1968-9, and the first
graduates came through in 1971. So we have a proud history.

We would be very pleased if you would like to join other alumni to
celebrate this occasion and an invitation is attached.

The Information Studies Alumni Committee works hard to build funds for a
student scholarship and we have invited a significant donor to this fund
to join us on the night so that we can again thank her. One of the
Alumni Committee's primary fundraising events is the Information Studies
Quiz Night, but this year we have replaced it with a dinner. The cost
of the dinner, as the invitation explains, includes an varied buffet
meal, including dessert, tea, coffee and chocs, drinks on arrival, and
helps us to meet the cost of the restaurant staff and some incidentals
for the night. We hope to break even and if there are any leftover
funds, they will go straight into the scholarship fund. If you wish to
make a donation to the fund you can do so on the night - or at any time.
Just let me know. The fund is reaching the stage where the Alumni
Committee is now considering award criteria preparatory to a first
award, possibly in 2012. But the fund can never have too much in it as
the award will be from the interest gained from the fund's principal.

While we are not having the Quiz Night, our new quiz question setter
Paul Genoni (who replaced Maggie Exon when she retired) has promised us
a fun and interesting interlude every now and then. And there will be
door prizes to die for (not) J

We look forward to catching up with as many of you as can make it,
although because of seating restrictions, there is a limit on numbers.
So please be quick with your rsvp.

Regards

The Information Studies Alumni Committee
