[Hum-DIS] Public Libraries Conference 1 April 2011. Student rate $80 all day.

 Hi,

Those of you in Western Australia may be interested in the Public Libraries
of Western Australia Conference being held in Fremantle on Friday 1 April
2011 http://plwa.wordpress.com/registration/ . Registrations close on 18
March 2011.

There is a student rate of $80 for the entire day which is extremely cheap
for the chance to hear some of the speakers. I have been to the last two (it
is held every 2 years) and found I learned a lot from it ­ not just about
public librarianship, but librarianship in general.

I will be speaking with John Blyberg and Cindi Trainor from the United
States in an interactive session for the audience - all about finding your
own core principles for librarianship. We wrote something called the Darien
Statements

librarians/>  a couple of years ago and will be talking about what we wrote,
why we wrote it and why it is a useful exercise to think about when you work
in a library.
