THESIS TITLE: Converged Memory Institutions: A Study of the
Consolidation of Community Cultural Resources.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the increasing convergence
worldwide of public'memory institutions' [galleries, libraries,
archives, museums, and records centres], into one physical site and one
virtual interface.
The research has dual aims of adding to the field's body of knowledge
and providing recommendations for the operation of such a merged
institution which would optimise its usefulness. The methodology
employed included a literature review, survey and case studies, and the
findings are already receiving attention from a number of prominent
individuals and associations in the information and cultural field.

And Gaby Haddow presenting on behalf of PhD student Sara Jane Saravani:
This presentation will discuss findings of a study conducted to explore
and answer the following questions:
* What skills, knowledge and competencies are required by library
staff to develop and deliver mobile technology services in the
vocational education sector?
* What specific on-the-job training is required by library staff
in the vocational education sector to acquire the skills, knowledge and
competencies to effectively develop and deliver mobile technology
services?
Data collection was undertaken in October/November 2010 with library
staff and students from Institutes of Technology and Polytechnics
throughout New Zealand and TAFEs/Polytechnics across Australia using
three survey instruments. A slightly-modified version of the Unified
Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) model was employed as
a predictor of behavioural intention and implementation. The findings
and recommendations resulting from this study will provide information
able to be included in strategic planning processes applicable across
the sectors.
