Here is an excellent opportunity for a new graduate to attend one of
Australia's foremost library conferences - free!

Good luck with the applications.

Paul

So, you thought your last chance to win a registration for had passed?

You're in luck! As part of the ALIA Board of Directors' commitment to
providing opportunities for professional development for members, the
Board of Directors has approved the ALIA New Generation Advisory
Committee's (NGAC) request for a free registration for a new graduate or
student to attend the conference, held in Sydney from 1-3 February.

So you think you have plenty of time to get your application together
for the NGAC free registration to attend the ALIA Information Online
Conference & Exhibiton 2011 <http://www.information-online.com.au/> ?

You have less than one week to get your application in!

So you're not sure if you're eligible to enter?

If you are a new graduate ALIA Associate member or student member
currently undertaking an ALIA-recognised tertiary LIS course who would
not otherwise receive funding from their organisation then you can
enter!

So you're not sure it's worth the hassle?

Registration is worth $860 for earlybird members or $960 if you're
running late. And it's a great program

mme.cfm?page=all&vm_key=296301BD-1422-0982-EBD2B0E49CFB737E?v=296301BD-1
422-0982-EBD2B0E49CFB737E> with lots of opportunity to network,
including being involved in a pilot conference mentoring program being
run by yours truly!

So you think it's too expensive to get to Sydney for the conference?

Check out the great flight deals <http://www.webjet.com/> available
from all over Australia happening at the moment, stay in a hostel
<http://www.sydneycityhostels.com.au/> , and when you're not at the
conference eat out at Chinatown
<http://maps.google.com.au/maps/place?oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-GB:off
icial&client=firefox-a&um=1&ie=UTF-8&q=chinatown+sydney&fb=1&gl=au&hq=ch
inatown&hnear=Sydney+NSW&cid=15068836700934869596> . And don't forget
you can write the expenses off on tax!

So you think there's no chance you'd win?

You'd be wrong! All applications will be considered on merit. A panel
made up of the NGAC conference sub-committee, ALIA Director: Member
Services and an ALIA Board Director will decide the winner of the ALIA
Information Online registration.

So you're not sure how to enter?

No problem! Applicants who wish to be considered for this offer should
send a completed application form (attached) by the closing date to
aliangac at gmail.com. Please ensure that you address all the criteria set
out in the form.

So when do you have until again?

Applications close Friday 26 November 2010 - THAT'S THIS WEEK!!! The
successful applicant will be notified mid-December 2010.

What if you have more questions?

Please direct any questions to enquiry at alia.org.au. Or you know where I
am ;-)

Good luck!

Naomi Doessel
