Archivist

Part Time - 15 hours per fortnight

 

The St Vincent De Paul Society Queensland is well recognised for
achieving excellent results within the community. Its mission is its
strength, as are the staff and volunteers that change the lives of those
they work with throughout the community.



 

The St Vincent de Paul Society Queensland is currently seeking a
motivated professional who will be filling the role of part time
Archivist. The position is initially for 12 months (with the possibility
of extension) while the incumbent is currently on maternity leave.

 

The Archivist position is part time for 15 hour per fortnight (hours of
work are flexible eg. 1 day a week or 2 half days per week). 

 

Essential Duties and responsibilities include, but not limited to the
following:

 

*	The day to day management and maintenance of the collection,
including accessioning, arranging and describing records in accordance
with Society policies and procedures. 
*	Liaise with St Vincent de Paul members and staff to gather items
from various locations throughout Queensland. Some travel to regional
centres may be involved.
*	Design and participate in outreach activities to promote the
Archives, including regular submissions to Society newsletters, liaising
with Society members to discuss the role of the Archives and their
importance to the Society, updating the Archives permanent exhibition,
and planning and developing traveling exhibitions. The development of an
Oral History program is a significant activity.
*	Provide research services to St Vincent de Paul Society staff,
members and volunteers, as well as members of the extended community who
have a genuine research enquiry about the Society.
*	Train and supervise any volunteers or non archival staff who may
assist the Archivist from time to time.
