Further to our conversation this morning, I confirm that there is an opportunity for 2 Library students to do some vacation work in the Dept of Mines and Petroleum.

The work will involve updating of bibliographic details of old mineral exploration reports in the WAMEX database. The WAMEX database is the document database in which all the mineral exploration reports submitted by companies on mining tenements is stored. When we moved to the WAMEX3 database in December 2008, we dispensed with the grouping of reports in a given area to working with the individual reports hence many of the old reports do not have their individual titles, authors or tenements. The job we require to be done is the updating of the bibliographic details of these old reports. It may also require sorting of some of the digital data files that are part of these reports. Ideally we require someone with good computer skills including the ability to use Winzip.

I envisage initially employing 2 students for the 2 months of the summer vacation.

Anyone interested can phone me to discuss or simply forward their CV to ann.fitton at dmp.wa.gov.au

Regards
