Music Librarian 

 

The Australian Institute of Music (AIM) is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced individual for the position of Music Librarian. The Music Librarian is part of AIM¹s team of professionals charged with developing and producing learning materials incorporating traditional and new technologies.

The successful candidate must possess the following:

 

Essential

 

* ALIA recognised library qualifications

* Digital Circulation and Acquisition Database experience (Liberty 3)

* Experience with external digital database management

* Information desk experience using electronic and online resources

* Formal music qualifications or equivalent

* Competent IT hardware and software skills (MS Office)

* Ability to work independently.

 

Desirable

 

* Knowledge of the music industry and music education

* Ability to work on dual platform (PC and Mac) environments

* experience in promotional activities and delivering a library service to diverse customers.

 

Accountability and Objectives

 

* Compile and maintain accurate library acquisition records;

* Administer the LIBERTY 3 circulation system;

* Supervise maintenance of duplication and IT hardware for library;

* Supervise and maintain a database of external digital subscriptions

* Catalogue resources;

* Provide expert advice to staff and students on music research resources;

* Create and maintain a productive working environment for library patrons.

 

Salary will be negotiated commensurate with experience and qualifications.
