Library Assistant (Technician)


Fixed Term Contract to May 2009


 


Rio Tinto Exploration has an outstanding opportunity for an enthusiastic
and highly detailed individual to join our Information Management team
in Belmont.  

 

Reporting to the Information Officer, you will have an excellent working
knowledge of Microsoft programs, good keyboard skills and superior
Customer Service skills.  Previous experience in a similar role and both
initiative and an outstanding attention to detail are considered
essential for this role.  Completion of a Library Technician's course
will be highly regarded but is not considered essential.   You must also
share Rio Tinto's commitment to health, safety, environment and
communities.

 

Your primary functions in this role will be to provide professional
library assistance to the Information Officer and the wider Australasia
Region.

 

Your duties will include:

*        Contribute to the Information Centre goal of a Virtual Library
by quality controlling the scanned paper based information and linking
the digital file to the catalogue as well as adding open file
information from websites to the catalogue

*        Discharge of loans and re-shelving of items, accession and
distribute new serials issues and provide interlibrary loans service 

*	Projects as designated by the Information Officer, and
*	Covering the reception desk over the lunch period.
