Subject: RE: Art exhibition on display in Robertson Library to celebrate
Library Week

Hi Kerry

Could you please let your students and staff know that Robertson Library
will be hosting an exhibition to mark Library Week (19-25 May) that will
appeal to book lovers and all are welcome to come and browse. The
exhibition is situated on level 2 and will be on display from Tuesday 6
May.

As a celebration of Library Week, an exhibition of 16 paintings by
Capel-based artist Lesley Jackes will be displayed in Robertson Library.
The artworks are a unique interpretation of popular literary fiction.
Lesley joined a book club two years ago and felt inspired to produce in
visual art form some of the concepts contained in such works as The Book
Thief by Markus Zusak and Cloudstreet by Tim Winton. The featured books
are held in the Library's collection and are available for loan.
About the artist: Lesley Jackes enjoys a creative life with her husband
in the South West of WA living close to the coast and treasuring the
wonderful wildlife that lives in her back yard and surrounds. She is
passionate about preserving and appreciating the natural environment,
creative self expression, community inter- relationships, community art
and photography. In her work life she is the Coordinator of the South
West Women's Health and Information Centre and a Community Development
Officer with the Shire of Capel. In both jobs she has come to understand
the power and positive value of creative expression in all its forms in
community members.
