[Hum-DIS] FW: Student requests for information for Library & Information service presentation

 Dear all

I am sending this email to Hum-Dis so that you ALL know that these
activities are not required nor encouraged. Indeed I have expressly
stated in the Unit Outline for the Library Management unit that students
are NOT to contact the profession for pricing and other information for
the presentation or any other assignment. I have emailed the colleague
below to desist from assisting with such enquiries.

As you can see, I take this matter very seriously. You can see from
parts of the email below that you take up the profession's valuable
time. These colleagues are not always and only "Kerry's friends"; they
are information professionals from around Australia (in this case WA)
who give a great deal of their time and energy supporting Information
Studies @ Curtin, mainly through practicum placements, but also through
course revisions and meetings and as you can see from an email I've just
posted, hosting seminars and meetings to assist students. This
relationship is invaluable to Information Studies.

Kerry

Subject: Student requests

Hi Kerry

Recently I have received requests for information from Library and
information Studies students about software costs for a hypothetical
engineering library. [snip] I have already fielded several telephone
calls and various emails, which can be distracting in a busy day.

Do you agree and/or would you like me to provide some information to the
school for use by all students?

Regards
