Hi everyone,

Curtin University has a mentoring program where students are mentored by professionals. Given the large cohort of psychology students, the university is looking for more people to act as mentors. Info is below and attached if anyone is interested in signing up - it doesn't look onerous and it is all done via email.

Hi Natalie and Lauren

I hope you are both well?

I'm just emailing with regard to a new mentoring scheme we have recently launched which you may be interested in joining, and/or could perhaps forward this onto colleagues or other industry networks (both local and international) within your fields.

The FIRST STEP: Industry Guidance Program provides a Q&A platform for all current Curtin students and recent graduates who wish to ask participating industry professionals any burning questions they have relating to their potential careers.  Students will be able to register, search from the list of active mentors and ask away. In most cases this will be a one-off based query that mentors will be able to respond to in their own time, quickly and easily.

Program Specifics:

  *   Quick 2 minute registration;
  *   Participation flexibility - opt in or out of the program at any time;
  *   Enhance your leadership, communication and coaching skills;
  *   Provide invaluable career and industry insight to a student or recent graduate navigating their way into the workforce; and
  *   All queries are conducted online only using an email - trigger software (no personal contact details are disclosed). No in-person meetings or extra curriculum activities are required.
We anticipate a lot of demand from psychology students for the First Step mentoring program, based on the high level of interest from your students in our existing Next Step mentoring program<http://life.curtin.edu.au/next-step-mentoring.htm> (which is great by the way :))  , hence this request for assistance with getting more industry mentors from your fields to join this program so that we don't end up with a huge imbalance between mentor and mentee numbers.
