The Melbourne Branch of the APS Celebrating Psychology Week

Presentation: Psychology Partnering in Creating a Future Free of Family Violence

NITIKA MAHARAJ
Nitika currently manages the Counselling Program and the Domestic Violence Advocacy Program at Doncare. She is a qualified and registered psychologist with AHPRA and a member of the Australian Psychological Society.  Nitika initially studied at Monash University and then completed her Masters at Leiden University in The Netherlands.  She has worked as a psychologist for over 18 years and has particular expertise working with children, adolescents and their families and in trauma informed practice.  Nitika has experience working with family violence across many settings including schools, private practice andDoncare community agency and she has created two books for use in therapy. She also has experience in counselling, coaching, supervising students and counsellors, supporting leadership and project management as well as running her own practice. Nitika has a particular interest in preventing family violence and a strong belief in the value of working with communities to develop healthier and more empowering attitudes and responses to domestic violence. She is therefore passionately further developing and promoting the iMatter program and app.
