I am currently an Assistant Principal at Lakeview Senior College. A core responsibility of mine is to lead the Student Wellbeing and Engagement Team.

We – Lakeview Senior College - currently have three full-time social workers/youth workers employed by the College. We have advertised, for the first time, a full time position for a ‘School Psychologist’.

Lakeview Senior College is located in Caroline Springs and we are one of ‘only’ nine senior secondary colleges in Victoria.  We have three year levels here at Lakeview; y10 to y12 (15 to 18 years of age). Our student population is growing in number, with more than 1000 students across the three year levels.

The salary Range is from $75,501 to $89,022 (plus Super).  The successful applicant will not be required to work during the school vacations. This is a twelve month position from 18/04/2016 to 31/03/2017 and the position is 3 days per week at Lakeview Senior College and 2 days per week at Creekside P-9 College (located 500 meters from Lakeview Senior College).

Role
The psychologist will provide high quality advice and support to Lakeview and Creekside students. They will support and comply with DET, Lakeview and Creekside procedures and policies in order to best support the wellbeing of students. They will provide individualised support to foster resilience, improve attendance and respond to identified social, emotional and educational needs.

Responsibilities
At Lakeview Senior College the psychologist will work in collaboration with the broader wellbeing team. They will report directly to the Leading Teacher and Assistant Principal for Wellbeing and Engagement. Alongside the Student Wellbeing Team, the psychologist will:

  *   Provide high quality case management and support to Lakeview students
  *   Undertake individual and/or group counselling and therapeutic interventions with students to assist them in enhancing their capacity to self-manage their social, emotional and educational needs
  *   Administer assessments and diagnosis in order to provide advice to staff, students and families
  *   Keep thorough and extensive case notes to create transparency and accountability
  *   Where appropriate, contribute to whole school, year level and small group programs
  *   Develop and implement DET and Lakeview procedures and policies to support and foster the wellbeing of students
  *   Collaborate with school staff, Student Support Services and support agencies to foster the resilience of individual students, improve their attendance and respond to their identified social, emotional and educational needs
  *   Establish and maintain links with Student Support Services, school networks and relevant support agencies with a view to optimising and coordinating service provision to students
  *   Provide advice in the identification and analysis of emerging student wellbeing issues and coordinate specialist advice on the range of appropriate interventions
  *   Actively participate in professional development activities and programs and share knowledge and expertise with other staff.
  *   Work as a key member of the whole College Wellbeing Team to ensure uniformity of action and purpose across the college in matters relating to student wellbeing.
