This is to let you know about the APS Women and Psychology Interest Group's upcoming half-day workshop in Melbourne, to which you are all cordially invited. Ursula Benstead: The Shark Cage:
This 90 minute presentation by Ursula Benstead, creator of the Shark Cage, provides a brief outline of the 5 steps in the Shark Cage framework. The presentation will explore ways it can be used in individual and group settings to help women feel empowered in their lives. This presentation does not replace the full day skills training in this approach. Details relating to training in the Shark Cage can be found on Ursula's website.
Carmel O’Brien: Freeing the Hostage and Re-building Identity: best psychological practice in domestic violence recovery
Carmel O’Brien has a special clinical interest in the process of recovery for women and children affected by domestic violence. This presentation will cover the language of intervention and recovery, navigating the landscape of the system supporting women and their children, and will explore a holistic approach to empowerment when working with survivors of domestic violence.
The Women and Psychology Interest Group brings women together as practitioners, consumers, academics and students of all ages and a range of backgrounds.
