Monika Naslund MAPS was one of the first students to undertake the (then) Graduate Diploma in Community Psychology at Victoria University, after which she worked at Foundation House in its early days, while completing a Masters in Counselling Psychology at Monash. She subsequently worked in The Hague as a victim/witness support officer for those testifying at the United Nations International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (UN-ICTY). On returning to Australia she lectured in the VU Counselling program before relocating to Sweden. Having met the criteria to become a registered psychologist in Sweden, Monika is currently employed in a division of CeFAM (Centre for Family & Community Medicine - a public institution jointly funded by the regional health department and the Karolinska Institute) called 'Crisis & Disaster Psychology'. This small specialist unit is tasked to provide training, research and consultation in the field of disaster psychology, and when required, to provide an operative role in the leadership response group.
