[Commpsych] Children of the Intervention

This report complements the Australian NGO Report, Listen To Children, in reference to the 4th periodic report of Australia.

It focuses on children who live in the Northern Territory of Australia and who live under legislation which is not only discriminatory but is also different to legislation that all other Australian children live under. The report draws attention to the very high incidence of malnutrition found in Aboriginal children in the Territory as well as the concern about broad health and social issues emanating from extreme overcrowding and institutional neglect. Not all children in the Northern Territory are able to access full-time education as Government fails to supply full-time qualified teachers. School attendance is in decline and bilingual learning programs have been withdrawn from schools.
