The Listen to Children Report relates to the initial OPSC report of Australia. It is a comprehensive and constructive analysis of children’s rights in Australia and makes a range of targeted recommendations to address disadvantage and promote child protection and wellbeing.

Australia has made limited progress to address the unacceptable gaps in the protection of children’s rights and in the main, has not developed child-sensitive laws, policies, initiatives and systems.

To do better for all our children, Australia needs to learn to listen to children. A Children’s Commissioner, acting as the anchor of a National Plan of Action for Children and Young People, is the key to seeing the full realisation of children’s rights in Australia.
