Subject: Your opinion counts- What do you think of multiculturalism in Australia?

The Joint Standing Committee on Migration has commenced and inquiry into multiculturalism and the benefits of migration.
Feedback from individuals, community groups and support organisations will be welcomed.

Chair of the Committee, Maria Vamvakinou MP said: “Australia is a diverse society - it is part of who we are as Australians both in the city and the bush. Some European leaders have suggested that multiculturalism has failed in Europe. The lessons from Europe are important, but multiculturalism in Australia and Australian society is quite different,’ Ms Vamvakinou said.
The deadline for submissions is Friday 8 April 2011.

Details: www.aph.gov.au/mig<http://www.aph.gov.au/mig> or from the Secretariat on (02) 6277 4560.

Also attached is a speech Maria made recently about so called ethic enclaves, Australia’s multicultural prototype, and comments related to British Prime Minister’s David Cameron’s views on multiculturalism.

Kind regards
Marianthi Kypuros
