Dear Shelter WA members, subscribers and interested people,

 

This week is Homeless Persons Week and we encourage you to think about and
join in with the many things happening to raise awareness and improve
services and supports for people who are homeless or at risk of
homelessness.

website www.communityhousing.com.au or for events across the country go to
the Homelessness Australia website: www.homelessnessaustralia.org.au 

 

We have prepared a brief fact sheet attached for your information.

 

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders experience homelessness and housing
poverty at a far greater rate than non-Indigenous Australians, and this past
week Shelter WA staff, together with state representatives have participated
in a National Shelter Forum in Brisbane.  This meeting will pave the way for
a concerted effort by Shelter WA to consult, inform and advocate around this
issue of grave concern to us all.  A report with all the detail is being
prepared.

 

Please find attached a fact sheet about Indigenous Housing to commence your
thinking.
